Marketing Yourself As A Notary Loan Signing Agent

If you are reading this, you are probably a notary loan signing agent. You know that business has slowed down considerably since the real estate market debacle. If you are like me, naturally, you try to put in an extra effort to market yourself.

While I have found that some of my marketing efforts are STARTING to pay off, such as google adwords and trying to submit my notary site to as many search engines and listing directories as I can, I was surprised yesterday when I got a call from an escrow company who requested for me to go to their office in Pasadena, California, and do a loan document signing. Bewildered, my first thought was that maybe their notaries are not available for the day, that's why the escrow officer is calling me. But when I asked her, she told me simply that she called me because she loved the customer service I provided to her and her client on a previous mobile signing. I was still somewhat in disbelief that although she could have used any one of the notaries in her office, FREE of charge to the client, she chose me. I figured this would be a great opportunity for me to meet their whole staff and put my marketing materials to use.

I had created some MOUSEPADS with my company logo and information and decided that these would be a great way to put my company ALWAYS at my clients' fingertips. There were about 10 people at the office and I passed out my mousepads to all and 4 people actually did not have mousepads. Not only did they thank me for the free gift (which cost me about $2.00), but they LOVED the idea of the mousepad. I had spent an overall $500 for 250 pieces and needless to say, they have MORE than paid for themselves time and again. I would estimate that they have paid for them selves 10 times over in less than one year.

But yesterday's experience made me realize something. Maybe it's not just the mousepads or the marketing element. Maybe it's the customer service element that gets me repeat business and generates new ones by word of mouth referral. So, although marketing gets your name out initially, that's only the bait. YOU have to be the hook that draws them in with your superb customer service skills. Now is the time to put them to use to rise above the others who won't and will be weeded out of the industry.
